With heavy hearts we share with you the passing of Dr. Ellen Maitin on June 7, 2019. Dr. Maitin was a
dedicated and immensely talented orthopedic surgeon, always going the extra mile. She was a fierce
patient advocate and strived to improve each and every one of her patients’ lives. The affection that Dr.
Maitin had for her patients was felt by all she cared for. Please be assured that each of us would be
honored to transition the care you were receiving from Dr. Maitin.
Dr. Maitin spent nearly 25 years with us, delivering top-notch care to her patients at Orthopedic Surgery
& Rehabilitation Associates. Prior to her longstanding career with us, Dr. Maitin attended Clark
University in Worcester, MA then transferred and graduated from Beaver (now Arcadia) University. She
attended medical school at Stonybrook University, spent a transition year at the University of Iowa and
then completed her residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation,
Dr. Maitin completed a one-year fellowship in hand and microsurgery with Dr. William Bora at
University of Pennsylvania. She went on to become the chief of hand surgery at Medical College of
Pennsylvania Hospital (MCP) and later left to start a private practice at Jeanes Hospital.
Dr. Maitin was beloved by her patients and the staff she worked with over the years. When she was not
working, she enjoyed interior design, beautiful artwork and spending time with her husband, children and
the rest of her family.
