Dr. Lisa Kaplin is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in sports medicine. As a former intercollegiate soccer athlete, Dr. Kaplin has enthusiasm for all things sports- and fitness-related. This passion carries into her practice as a physician and surgeon, where she helps patients get back to competitive sports, recreation and fitness.
Having enjoyed biology and other sciences while an undergrad at Brandeis University, Dr. Kaplin was particularly drawn to the field of medicine by a fascination with the ability of her fellow athletes to both avoid and overcome injury.
Afterward, she went on to earn a master’s in medical science from Boston University followed by a D.O. from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. During the course of her early career, Dr. Kaplin covered teams in hockey, rugby, basketball, and football. In 2019, she completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Wake Forest University College of Medicine. Currently, she is a team doctor for La Salle University athletics and William Tennent School District.

In her free time, Dr. Kaplin enjoys hikes along the Wissahickon with her family-she welcomed a baby daughter in 2018-and trying out Philadelphia’s great restaurants.
